"Sexy Bitch"

Sporadic Rant:
"What's going on here?" you ask after reading today's comic. Well, nothing more than Part Two of When Girls Go Wild. The inspiration for today's comic comes from a bevy of sources. First, Tim, Robin, and Matt Congdon (another friend of ours) went out to eat. The restaurant had crayons and cheap poster paper as a tablecloth. So obviously, I started doodling everyone at the table. I had a pretty limited medium, so I just did up everyone comic strip-style, and we started talking about the strip. Tim came up with this funny idea where the guys would walk around in dresses while Robin and Alison said sexist things to them. I liked the idea well enough, but decided to incorporate it into this pseudo-storyline I'm pursuing. Don't expect any massive story arcs here, though, a la Funny Farm; this is still basically a gag-a-day strip. It might become something more if I ever decided to take it a little more seriously.

Anyways, that was the original inspiration; but I've been flirted with an awful lot lately, so that's why I depicted the gals picking on me in that way. For some reason, I've been called "sexy" at least five times this week by different people. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but this kind of thing just doesn't happen a whole lot to me. I think it's got something to do with the recent wave of sinophilia that's been hitting North America. You see a lot of people with kanji tatoos; anime is becoming popular, even if people don't know it's anime (Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam Wing); the influence of Hong Kong directors has affected everything from The Phantom Menace to The Matrix; and for the first time in my memory, Asian males are considered sexy, as we can see from the explosive popularity of Chow Yun Fat and Jet Li. Asian women, I think, have always been considered attractive. I got "cute" a lot as I was growing up, but I didn't even hear a vague passing of "sexy" until I turned 18. "Hot stuff" came when I went to a bar with Tim and Andy and two completely random drunk chicks came up and started hitting on me. Of course, this trend is happening now as I find myself engaged; but oh well, them's the breaks.

Obviously, a guy feels really good when someone makes a positive remark on his appearance, no matter how strongly he may profess not to care about his looks. But when a woman comes on gangbusters as we see in the strip today, he gets nervous and apprehensive. If a girl ever came on this strongly to me, I'd be at a total loss as to what to say and do. Enough rambling, see you tomorrow.
