Sporadic Rant:
One item that got left out of yesterday's uncharacteristically abbreviated rant: Brownie Point Comix -- This is a silly (but fun) site that reviews web comics on a fairly whimsical and subjective basis, but they actually do make some pretty acute observations, too. The overall favorable review for BBoCS can be found here. Check out their site, but if you're a big fan of web comics and will defend them to the death, be sure to take the reviews with a grain of salt.
As you have probably guessed from the comic, I've recently started playing golf. I'm usually a very quick study, but golf has me fairly perplexed. My grandfather (who's visiting from Taiwan) tells me I'm very good for someone who just picked up the game, but he's not the one hitting balls into sand traps all the time. Even worse, competitively speaking, I'm hundreds of levels below Andy, who sports an entire room full of golf trophies. Even Alan aka "Hippie" and his Amazing Technicolor T-Shirt can out-golf me any day of the week. Damn golf. Now I can't stop until I become good at the game.
Random good movies I just bought and watched on DVD: Silverado and Akira Kurosawa's Ran. Now that I've added Ran to my growing DVD collection along with The Seven Samurai, all I have to do is find a good copy of Throne of Blood. It's strange how well Shakespeare and medieval Japan go along together. Kurosawa owns j00!
