Sporadic Rant:
Contest time! Check out this link for more details. Deadline: Sept. 21, 2000. I've gotten a goodly number of entries so far, but I know there are more of you out there. Let's see a few more entries! Also, the call for fan art has gone out, so mail me those fabulous renditions of the BBoCS characters.
There was quite a bit I wanted to say from Wednesday, but most of it has dissipated from my mind in the two days hence. Basically, the joke then was derived from the fact that Su Hoay doesn't like my hair this long. Most everyone else seems to like it, but when I come home to comments like, "So am I a lesbian now?" and "You sexy girl!", it just makes me want to get my hair cut for some reason.
Today's comic is not the Bob the Angry Flower-ish comic I promised (obviously). It instead is based off the mercurial upstate New York weather. I always know I'm walking the borders of good taste when Andy enjoys the rough draft of a comic. I'll probably post the Bob-like strip on Sunday. I'm not convinced that it's funny per se as it lacks the gag-a-day punchline, but I think it's mildly amusing nonetheless.
I've been busy catching up on a hobby that I definitely let slide by the wayside: Reading. I finally finished Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies after leaving only about 50 pages unturned a few months ago. Today's recommended reading is Richard Matheson's I am Legend. For the most part, I think the vampire myth is very cool, but I haven't done too much vampire-related reading. I just never got into the Anne Rice or White Wolf Games craze; however, I am Legend is most definitely worth picking up. Richard Matheson also writes a mean short story. I also went back and poured through David Edding's The Belgariad, a favorite series of mine, in a couple of days. Consequently, I've been letting my other extracurricular activities slide a bit. I'm still working on the JoshBabes animation, and I'll have all afternoon today to finish it. I did manage to fit in a couple of pieces of fan art while I was at work on Wednesday: Kimberly from Unlike Minerva, Josh and Lesia from the aforementioned JoshBabes, and Mike and Dave from College Roomies from Hell!!!.
After posting the picture of Dave, I got a very funny comment from one of his biggest fans (TheBlackCupid) that I just had to share:
Mmmm... steaming hot! I'd like to grab a handful of that!Aww... all cute and fluffy... I just want to reach out and give him a tummy massage.
And, yes, the popcorn and the cat look good too.
Thank you soooo much, Al! For a proclaimed "straight, engaged" man who is currently attached to a "woman," you certainly know how to draw one sexy boy!
See you on Sunday. There'll be football and funny comics aplenty.
