"All Ears"

Wow. It looks as if a few of you took the Big Panda request pretty seriously, as BBoCS shot all the way up to the 5th spot yesterday. :) Even though readership has dropped to about 2000-2500 a day (down from its peak of just under 4000) in the past week or two due to the holiday season and Final Exams, it looks like there's still a pretty active fanbase who're willing to sacrifice a few valuable seconds to click on the BP icon. The site still serves up about 1800 or more unique IPs a day, so I can't really complain. I don't think we'll quite reach the 990,000 pageviews of last month, but it'll still be a respectable number all the same (a little below 700k last I checked). Maybe all of the readers who are still with us should send in some BBRO entries (hint hint)!

Today's comic deals with the movie I'll be viewing later this afternoon: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. To understand the C&H-ish joke at the end, you need to know that the character played by Chow Yun Fat has a magical sword that flies out of nowhere into his hand with a cool *shiiiinnnnkk* sound. The onomatopoeia is a bit lacking in this instance, but I couldn't really think of anything more appropriate. You can check out the trailers I uploaded here or just gank them from the official site. You'll also note the rampant cameos (okay, only three) that I've placed in the second panel. I haven't really indulged in too many cameos in the past, but I figured I'd better throw a few out there to show my appreciation of the comics I read on a regular basis.

I'm going to try and answer some e-mail today, so please await patiently for a reply if you've sent something in the past week or so when I've been busy running around between the old place and the new apartment. Before I forget again, here are a couple of pieces of fan art I did. The first is a little risque number of Miss Reese of Funny Farm, and the second is a delectable little number of the yummy morsel that is Celidh of Avalon. And that'll be all the food similes I make for the day.

If you didn't check out Zach Stroum's Shaw Island on Wednesday, I'd suggest doing so now before it starts to really get into the meat of the plot. It's nice to be early on the scene when something new and cool arises, and Shaw Island certainly fits that bill. The esteemed Mr. Stroum also founded a new comics network, amusingly entitled Space Hamster, which also features the work of the talented SheepLass of Planet Zarquon.

I have another dream where the BBoCS Forum is really an attractive girl who looks just like Chun-Li, but that isn't the kind of dream you usually talk about in public.
