"Not Bitter"

Blargh. For all you CS folks, let me say that I currently run in three states: Pained, Nauseous, and Drowsy. State 0 (Pained) is the default; State 1 (Nauseous) occurs after I take painkillers; and State 2 (Drowsy) becomes the current state after I take muscle relaxants to help me sleep. My back is actually feeling slightly better (which is why you're seeing fresh new updates again), but I can tell it's going to be a couple of weeks before I'm up and about. The doctor says I can expect my back to be unexpectedly sore or tense in the future, too. Great. Also, I hate this soup I'm currently trying to digest. Get this straight, I love Su Hoay to death, but I fervently keep wishing she'd stop shopping in the "Nick's Least Favorite Flavors" aisle. God forbid that means I go grocery shopping with her ever. ;)

Another "blargh" here for me for not updating for a week after getting my visits back up to 5000 a day. But as I've said before, there are still some 3000+ loyal people who come to visit the site, anyway, even when it's not being updated. You guys rock. And for rocking so much, I'll point you towards some other cool webcomics which deserve your fandom at least as much as BBoCS does.

Today's linking theme will be Asian influences, whether the comics are done by Asians themselves or merely influenced by them, i.e. drawn in a manga style. If you hadn't noticed, I'd joined up with Kaichi Satake's Asian Comix list about a week and a half ago. I invite you to check out all of the comics in the dropdown at the bottom of the page. Maybe you'll find something you like. :) I'm going to try and go through all of the comics in the Asian Comix list and I'll recommend a few after I'm done digging through various and sundry archives. That takes care of the comics done by Asians.

Next, I'll list off a few comics not done by Asians but drawn in that P-funkadelic (not related to P-Chan) manga style we all know and love.

  • Boredom Tastes Like Chocolate - I've linked this a couple of times before, but I don't care. It deserves to be an everlasting link on this page; and someday, when I'm not so lazy about updating, it will be. Also, winged pigs will emerge from the folds of my buttocks, heralding the return of Jesus Christ. Kendra has done some really fantastic stuff with her comic and I'm darn jealous. From some of the forum discussion, it appears a few of you are already fans of Doyle, Flax, and Rubi. That means everyone who isn't a BTLC fan here is a gol-darned SLACKER.

  • Eat the Roses - I just became aware of this comic recently, but after I first discovered it, I went through and read all of the archives. You can clearly see the Violinist of Hameln influence the author talks about, and it all contributes to a really clean and wonderful design. After dutifully clicking on BTLC and worshipping Kendra, you MUST, and I do mean MUST, read this comic right now! I mean it, buster!

  • Neobaka - This is another recent find. Many of you probably found this the way I did, via a semi-controversial link from MegaTokyo. I think the Neobaka vs. MT comparisons are rather frivolous. I mean, they're both enjoyable comics, so let's enjoy them, no? If you have to compare the two, call Neobaka an unrefined (in terms of both art and writing) MegaTokyo and leave it at that. Don't take that to mean that either the art or writing is somehow bad, either. All in all, a good read and one to definitely start hitting while it's still in its stages of infancy.

That's probably enough new comics to tide you over for a long time, so I'll stop here. :)

The BBoCS Forum can't, won't, and doesn't stop.
