CONTEST TIME! BBoCS Contest 3 is over! I've tabulated the contest results and have decided that everyone who posted in the thread before the deadline will be eligible for a BBoCS cameo. I'll start contacting the winners immediately after I get back Otakon; either that, or I'll delegate that task to the secretary I'll have acquired by then. ;)
I'll be doing updates for Wednesday and Thursday of this week before I run off to Otakon for the weekend. Hopefully, things will be pretty much back to normal by Monday of next week. I've been insanely busy lately, and the comic was always one of the last things on my mind. Now that everything's stabilized and my new computer is put together and functioning at 100% capacity, things should run without a hitch for awhile. I had a pretty good run going before this latest break, but I guess the brief hiatus was almost inevitable at some point. ;) Not that anyone actually reads it or anything, but Blade of Destiny will be on hiatus until August 15. And now for a random Zhang Ziyi link.
My new computer is a fairly phat gaming rig, sporting a 1.2 GHz AMD Thunderbird, 256 MB DDR RAM, a GeForce 3, and a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Platinum. I've also switched over to Windows 2000. After all the headaches of trying to deal with Windows '98 SE, 2000 seems like a godsend. It's silly to be happy about basic OS stability, but it's something that Windows users just haven't had until very recently. I've had maybe one or two OS-related errors with Macintoshes, and none with Linux machines that haven't ended up being my fault somehow. ;) It's nice to see that the Windows community finally has a stable OS to call their own. Not that I'm advocating the hegemony of M$ or anything, but I'm really quite happy with Windows 2000 after the second service pack. It runs all my games without problems, I'm never forced to reboot arbitrarily, and it has a really cool boot-up sound. Color me content.
Speaking of hegemony (See the segue! Worship the segue!), my Dad recently recommended to me an excellent new book: Dr. Henry Kissinger's Does America Need a Foreign Policy?. I'm only about a hundred pages into it, but it's a very interesting read so far. I have to respect the man's ideas and theories even though I tend to lean towards the opposite end of the political spectrum. One sharp review of the book that I saw (NY Times Book Review, maybe) pointed out a possible Machiavelli/Medici relationship between Kissinger and Bush the younger. Anyways, this 'un's some good readin'!
Convention Watch! I had a blast at Comic-Con, and I don't see why we won't have at least as much fun at Otakon! I hope to see you all there! BBoCS will be represented in the form of myself, Matt, and Tom.
Arrange meeting each other in Baltimore in the BBoCS forum.
